Amsterdam, Artis 2017

IUCN status : Least Concern

The common chameleon (Chamaeleo chamaeleon) is widespread across parts of Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East, but there is no exact global population estimate available due to the species’ broad range and varying population densities. The IUCN Red List classifies it as Least Concern, meaning it is not currently considered threatened. However, its numbers are decreasing in certain regions due to habitat loss, fragmentation, and collection for the pet trade.
